    Going after incremental business with superior quality to free alternatives shows the difference between an business on the offensive business and one on the defensive. Sadly, the publishing business has been on the defensive for years.

    Spot on Ian. That's a great way of looking at it.

    The analogy continues to work when you look at the way teams almost always loose when they switch to defense to protect a lead in the 4th quarter.

    Personally I like to read usual books more, than to listen to audio of the book. I emo do not know why. Probably simply habit. And from reading you receive more impressions.

    I don't think I'm ready to embrace innovations such as the Kindle. Though it is a very promising innovation, I still prefer the mediocre books.

    I feel the same but on the other hand that's how their business grows, they just can't afford to go different way, that perhaps the reason why media companies don't get it.
